Name the element which does not exhibit ...

Name the element which does not exhibit variable oxidation state in the 3d-block.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

After the loss of two electrons, `Zn(3d^(10)4s^(2))` forms `Zn^(2+)` ion `(3d^(10)4s^(0))` with stable electronic configuration (3d-subshell fully filled). So Zn shows oxidation state of + 2 only and does not exhibit variable oxidation state.
