Why are properties of transition element...

Why are properties of transition elements of the same series similar, though they belong to different groups ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The similarties in the properties of the transition elements of the same series is due to the fact the most of the elements have the same outermost electronic configuration `(ns^(2))` although they differ from one another in the number of electrons in the d-sushell of the penultimate shell.
