Arange the following oxides in the order of their increasing basicity : `MnO, Mn_(2)O_(7), MnO_(2)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The oxidation of Mn in the given oxides are + 2, + 7 and + 4, respectively. The order of increasing basicity is : `Mn_(2)O_(7)lt MnO_(2)lt MnO`. The basicity of oxides made from the same element, increases with decrease in the oxidation number of the element.
