Write the number of unpaired electron(s)...

Write the number of unpaired electron(s) present in `Na_(2)[FeO_(4)]`. [Atomic number of Fe is 26]

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Let, in sodium ferrate `Na_(2)[FeO_(4)]`, the oxidation state of `Fe = x therefore 2xx1+x+4xx(-2)=0`.
In + 6 state, the outer electronic configuration of Fe is `3d^(2)4s^(0)`.
So, number of unpaired electrons of iron in the given compound = 2.
