Give example of an element considered to be a transition element having completely filled 4d - orbital.

Text Solution

Outer electronic configuration of `Ag : [Kr]4d^(10)5s^(1)`.
Electronic configuration of `Ag^(2+): [Kr]4d^(9)5s^(0)`.
In its + 2 oxidation state, silver forms `AgO, AgF_(2)`, etc., which are stable compounds and they have partially filled 4d - orbitals. Hence, silver is considered as a transition element.
