The standard reduction potential of four elements A, B, C & D are `- 0.40 V, +0.80 V, - 3.05 V & + 1.66 V` respectively. Which of them is chemically most reactive ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Higher the negative value of the reduction potential, greater is the reducing power of the element and greater is its chemical reactivity. Hence, the element `C(E^(0)=-3.05 V)` is the most reactive metal.
