What are the IUPAC names of the insecticide DDt and benzenehexachloride?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

DDT: 2,2-bis(4-chorophenyl)-1,1,1-trichloroethane. Benzene hexachloride: 1,2,3,4,5,6-hexachlorocyclohexane. The use of these insecticides has been banned because they are not biodegradable. They enter the food chains of animals and get deposited and stored in their fatty tissues over a period of time and ultimately affet their reproductive systems.
