A liquid with high boiling point decomposes on simple distillation but it can be steam distilled for its purification. Explain how is it possible ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In steam distillation, the boiling point of the liquid gets lowered or reduced. Therefore, it gets distilled along with water vapours without getting decomposed. For details, consult section 12.38.
