Give a simple chemical test to distinguish between :
(i) Ethanol and dimethylether (ii) Pentan-1-ol and pent-1-ene
(iii) p-methylphenol and methoxybenzene.

(i) Ethanol gives iodoform test (yellow ppt.) but dimethylether does not.
(ii) Pent-1-ene decolourises bromine water but pentan-1-ol does not.
(iii) p-methylphenol gives characteristic violet colouration with `FeCl_(3)` but methoxybenzene does not.
