The polynomials a x^3+3x^2-13 and 2x^3-5...

The polynomials `a x^3+3x^2-13` and `2x^3-5x+a` are divided by `x+2,` if the remainder in each case is the same, find the value of `a`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

value of `x = 2` ( simplifing `x - 2` )
so ,
`8a + 12 - 13 = 16 - 10 + a` ( after putting` x= 2 `)
`8a - a = 16 -10 -12 + 13`
`7a = 6 + 1`
`7a = 7`
`a = 1`
