Presict the shapes of the following molecules on the basis of hybridisation.
`BCl_(3),CH_(4),CO_(2),NH_(3)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In `BCl_(3)`, the geometry is triangular planar is due to `sp^(2)` hybridisation.

The shape of `CH_(4)` is tetrahedral due to `sp^(3)` hybridisation.

`CO_(2)` show linear shape because of sp hybridisation.

The geometry of `NH_(3)` is pyramidal shape and has `sp^(3)` hybridisation.
