Explain why atomic radius of Ga is less than that of Al.

Gallium comes immediately after the first transition series in which 3d orbitals is filled with electrons . Due to the poor shielding effect of these d-electrons, effective nuclear charge of gallium increases.Consequently the atomic radius of gallium is less than that of aluminium .
