In the circuit shown in figure, if the diode forward voltage drop is 0.3 V, then the voltage difference between A to B is,

A

`1.3 V`

B

`2.3 V`

C

`0`

D

`0.5 V`

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
B

Consider the fig. (b) given here, suppose the potential difference between A and B `r_(1) = 5 k Omega " and " r_(2) = 5 k Omega` are resistance in series connection.
Then, `V - 03 = [(r_(1) + r_(2)) 10^(3)] xx (0.2 xx 10^(-3))]`
`= [(5 + 5) 10^(3) ] xx (0.2 xx 10^(-3))`
`= 10 xx 10^(3) xx 0.2 xx 10^(-3) = 2`
`rArr V = 2 + 0.3 = 2.3 V`
