Find the roots of the quadratic equation...

Find the roots of the quadratic equations by using the quadratic formula in each of the following
`5x^(2)+13x+8=0`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given equation is `5x^(2)+13x+8=0`
On comparing with `ax^(2)+bx+c=0` we get
`a=5, b=13` and `c=8`
By quadratic formula `x=(-b+-sqrt(b^(2)-4ac))/(2a)`
`=(-13)+-sqrt((13)^(2)-4(5)(8))/(2(5))`
`=(-13+-sqrt(169-160))/10=(-13-sqrt(9))/10`
`=(-13+-3)/10=-10/10-16/10=-1-8/5`
