Mountain roads rarely go straight up the slope, but wind up gradually. Why?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

If roads go stratigh up then angle of slope `theta` would be large so frictional force `f=mu mg cos theta` would be less and the vechicles may slip. Also greater power would be required.
