The equation of the ellipse having foci ...

The equation of the ellipse having foci `(1,0),(0,-1)` and minor axis of length `1` is ……

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given that, foci of the ellipse are (`0,pmbe`).
`because` `be=1`
`therefore` Length of minor axis,2a=1`rArra=1//2`
`e^(2)=1-(a^(2))/(^(2))`
`rArr(be)^(2)=b^(2)-a^(2)rArr1=b^(2)-1/4`
`rArr1+1/4=b^(2)rArr5/4=b^(2)`
So, the equation of ellipse is
`(x^(2))/(1/4)+(y^(2))/(5//4)=1rArr(4x^(2))/1+(4y^(2))/5=1`
