(i) `2Cu_(2)S(s) + 3O_(2)(g)overset("Heat")to2Cu_(2)O(s)+2SO_(2)(g)`
(ii) `2Cu_(2)O(s) +Cu_(2)S(s)overset("Heat")to 6Cu(s)+SO_(2)(g)`
(iii) Electrolytic refining
1. A thick block of the impure metal is made anode (+ ve).
2. A thin strip of pure metal is made cathode (- ve).
3. `CuSO_(4)` solution is taken as electrolyte.
At cathode`" "Cu^(2+)(aq)+2e^(-)toCu(s)`
At anode `" " Cu(s)toCu^(2+)(aq)+2e^(-)`
(b) The diagram showing electrolytic refining of copper.
