When th e candle stopped burning in the bell jar, he placed a mint plant inside the jar. He found that the mouse stayed alive and the candle continued to burning when introduced a lighted candle.
By th is experiment it is proved that plants can create oxygen, allowing fire to burn and animals to breathe.
