Ag is removed electrolyticaly from 20cc of a 0.1 N solution of `AgNO_(3)` by a current of 0.1 amp. How long will it take to remove half of the silver from the solution?

A

10min

B

16min

C

The correct Answer is:
D

The wt. of `Ag^(+)` in 200cc of 0.1 N `AgNO_(3)` soin
`=(200)/(1000)xx0.1xx108=2.1 6g`
To remove half of the `Ag^(+)i.e.,(2.16)/(2)`
`=1.08g Ag^(+)`
Time required is 't'
`W=(E)/(96500)xx1xxt`
`1.08 =(108)/(96500)xx0.1xxt`
`therefore t=9650` sec =160 minutes
