The relationsip between the values of o...

The relationsip between the values of osmotic pressure of solutions obtained by dissolving `6.00 g L^(-1)` of `CH_(3)COOH (pi_(1))` and `7.45 g L^(-1)` of `KCL (pi_(2))` is

A

`pi_(1) lt pi_(2)`

B

`pi_(1) gt pi_(2)`

C

`pi_(1)=pi_(2)`

D

`(pi_(1))/(pi_(1)+pi_(2)) =(pi_(2))/(pi_(1)+pi_(2))`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
A

Osmotic pressure, `pi = CRT`
`n_(CH_(3)COOH) = (6)/(60) = 0.1 n_(KCI) = (7.45)/(74.5) = 0.1`
Here molar concentrations of both the solution are same. Since `KCI` ionises more than `CH_(3)COOH`, the number of particles in `KCI` solution increases.
