How are the folowihg colloids different with respwct ot dispersed phase nd dispersion medium ? Give on example of each
(i) Aerosol (ii) Emulsion (iii) Hydrosol.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Aerosol : In an aerosol, a gas acts as the dispersion medium. For example, smoke in which ust partices are suspended or dispersed in air.
Emulsion : It is a mixture of two immiscible liquds (oil/water). For example, cod-liver oil.
(iii) Hydrosol : In a hydrosol, the dispersion medium is water while dispersed phase is a soolid. For example, colloidal solution of starch in water.
