`PH_(3)` forms bubbles when passed slowly in water but `NH_(3)` dissolves. Explain why ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`PH_(3)` does not dissolve in water due to lack of intermolecular hydrogen bonding. Ammonia on the other hand is highly soluble in water since molecules of ammonia and water are involved in intermolecular hydrogen bonding.
