Define self inductane of a solenoid. On what factors does it depend ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The phenomenon in which an emf is induced in a coil due to the change of current through it under resonance , is known self induction. The property of a coil to oppose any change of current in it, is known as self inductance. The self inductance depends on,
(i) its length (ii) number of turns
(iii) area of cross section and (iv) permeability of the material used as its core.
