A negligbly small current is passed through a wire of length 15m, uniform cross - section `6.0xx10^(-7)m^(2)` and its resistance is measured to be `5.0Omega`. What is the resistivity of the material at the temperature of the experiment?

Text Solution

Given, area of cross section `A= 6xx10^(-7)m^(2)`
resistance `R = 5.0Omega`.
resistivity p = ?
length of the wire I= 15 m,
We know that `p=(RA)/l`
i.e., `p=(5xx6xx10^(-7))/15`
i.e., `p=2.0xx10^(-7)Omegam`
Thus, the teistivity of the material is `2.0xx 10^(-7) Omegam.`
