Find the distance between Venus and Sun.

Text Solution

The distance between Earth and Sun is considered as one A.U. When venus is at maximum elongation, venus makes `90^(@)` to Sun.
The trigonometric relation is satisfied by this right angled triangle.
`sintheta=(r)/(R)`
Where R = 1 AU
`r=Rsintheta=(1AU)(sin46^@)`
Here `sin46^(@)=0.77`. Hence Venus is at a distance of 0.77 AU from Sun.
