Find the equation of a circle with centr...

Find the equation of a circle with centre (2, 2) and passes through the point (4, 5).

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Let the centre of the circle is C(2,2) and circle through the P(4,5).
`:.` = radius of circle
`=sqrt((4-2)^(2)+(5-2)^(2))`
`=sqrt(4+9)=sqrt(13)`

Now, equation of circle
`(x-2)^(2)+(y-2)^(2)=(sqrt(13))^(2)`
`rArrx^(2)-4x+4y^(2)-4y+4=13`
`rArr" "x^(2)+y^(2)-4x-4y-5=0`
