(i) `d'_(a) = (36)/((1)/(((4)/(3)))) = (36)/(3//4) = 48cm`
(ii) `d'_(F) = (36)/(4//3) = 27cm`
(iii) For fish: `d_(B) = 36+48 = 84 cm`
`d_(a) = 36 + 48 = 84cm`
(iv) For bird: `d_(F) = 27 + 36 = 63 cm`
`d_(F) = 27 + 36 = 63 cm`
(v) Velocity of fish respect to bird `= 12 + ((12)/((4//3)//(1//1))) = 21 cm//sec`
Velocity of bird with respect to fish `= 12 + ((12)/((3//4)//(1//1))) = 28 cm//sec`

Find out the following in the figure shown below : (a) The apparent speed of the fish as observed by the bird (b) The apparent speed of the bird as observed by the fish

A fish in water (refractive index n ) looks at a bird vertically above in the air. If y is the height of the bird and x is the depth of the fish from the surface, then the distance of the bird as estimated by the fish is

A bird in air looks at a fish vertically below it and inside water. h_(1) is the height of the bird above the surface of water and h_(2) , the depth of the fish below the surface of water. If refractive index of water with respect to air be mu , then the distance of the fish as observed by the bird is

Find out the following in the figure shown below : (a) The apparent distance of the fish from the surface as observed by the bird (b) The apparent distance of the bird from the surface as observed by the fish

Consider the situation in Fig. The bottom of the pot is a reflecting plane mirror, S is a small fish, and T is a human eye. Refractive index of water is mu . a. At what distance(s) from itself will the fish see the image(s) of the eye? b. At what distance(s) from itself will the eye see the image(s) of the fish?

A diver D is still under water ( mu = (4)/(3)) at a depth d = 10 m . A bird is diving along line AB at a constant velocity in air. When the bird is exactly above the diver he sees it at a height of 50 m from himself and velocity of the bird appears to be inclined at 45° to the horizontal. At what distance from the diver the bird actually hits the water surface.

A plane mirror is fixed at the bottom of a vessel as shown in the figure. Water of refractive index mu is filled up to a height h in the vessel. There is a fish at a height h//2 from bottom of vessel and there is a bird at a height h above the surface of water in the vessel. (a) Calculate apparent distance of bird as seen by the fish. (b) Calculate apparent distance of image of bird in mirror as seen by the fish. (c) Calculate apparent distance of fish as seen by the bird. (d) Calculate apparent distance of image of fish in the mirror as seen by the bird.
