A light way deviates by `30^(@)` (which is one third of the angle of incidence) when it gets refrached from vacumm to a medium. Find the rerfraticve index of the medium.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`delta = i-r`
`rArr (i)/(30 = I - r = 30^(@)`
`rArr I = 90^(@)`
`rArr 2i = 3r`
`:. R = (2i)/(3) = 60^(@)`
So, `mu = (sin 90^(@))/(sin 60^(@)) = (1)/(sqrt(3)//2) = (2)/(sqrt(3))`
