If magnetic monopoles would have existed.how would the Gauss' law of magnetism be modified?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Gauss's law of magnetism states that the flux of `B` through any closed surface is always zero:`oint_(s)B.ds=0` for any closed `S`.
If monopoles existed, the `f.h.s.` would equal the monopole (magnetic charge )`q_(m)` enclosed by `S.` (analogous to electrostatics)
Gauss's law
`oint_(s)B.ds=mu_(0)q_(m)` where `q_(m)` is the (monopole) magnetic charge included by `S`.
