What is the value of the shunt that passes `10%` of the main current through a galvenomenter of `99 Omega`?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

As shunt is a small resistance S is parallel with a galvanometer (of resistance G ) as shown in fig
`(I - I_G) S = I_(G) G`

i.e., ` S = (I_(G) G)/(I - I_G) `
and as here `G = 99 Omega ` and
`I_G = (10/100) I = 0.1 I`
` S = (0.1 I xx 99)/(I - 0.1I) = (0.1)/(0.9) xx 99 = 11 Omega `
