(A) When pinacols (mostly di tertiary alcohols) are treated with mineral acids (dil. `H_(2)SO_(4)` or dil. `H_(3)PO_(4))` or acid chlorides , `ZnCl_(2)` or other electrophilic reagent, they rearrange to form ketones called pinacolones with the elimination of `H_(2)O`
