A charge Q is placed at the centre of a cube. Find the flux of the electric field through the six surfaces of the cube.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

By Gauss,s law, `phi=q_("in")/epsi_(0)`. Here, since Q is kept at the corner, so only `q/8` charge is inside the cube. (Since, complete charge can be enclosed by 8 such cubes)
`:. q_("in")=Q/8` So, `phi=q_("in")/epsi_(0)=Q/(8 epsi_(0))`
