Assertion : `PbI_(4)` doesn't exist and converts into `PbI_(2) and I_(2)` spontaneously at room temperature but `PbCl_(4)` needs heatin to convert into `PbCl_(2) and Cl_(2)`.
Reason : `Pb^(2+)` is more stable than `Pb^(4+)`due to inert pair effect.

A

If assertion is true but the reason is false

B

If assertion is false but reason is true

C

If both assertion and reason are true and the reason is the correct explanation of assertion

D

If both assertion and reason are true and the reason is not the correct explanation of assertion

The correct Answer is:
D

`underset("oxidixing agent")(Pb^(4+))+underset("strong reducing agent")(4I^(-)) to PbI_(2)+I_(2)`
Hence, `PbI_(4)` does not exist
`underset("oxidixing agent")(Pb^(4+))+underset("not good red, agent like " I^(-))(4Cl^(-)) to underset("unstable")(PbCl_(4)) overset("above")underset(50^(@)C)(to) PbCl_(2)+Cl_(2)`
Since `Cl_(2)` is a strong oxidizing agent, hence `Cl^(-)` is poor reducing agent, therefore `PbCl_(4)` does from bur decomposes on heating.
