For which values of x, function `f(x) = sin^(-1) x + sin^(-1).(1)/(x) + cos^(-1) x + cos^(-1).(1)/(x)` is defined? Also, find the range

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`f(x) = sin^(-1) x + "sin"^(-1) (1)/(x)` is defined only when x, `(1)/(x) in [-1, 1]`
Which is possible only when `x = +- 1`
Also, `(sin^(-1) x + cos^(-1) x) + (sin^(-1).(1)/(x) + cos^(-1).(1)/(x)) = (pi)/(2) + (pi)/(2) = pi`. So, range is `{pi}`
