(a) canal rays are the rays which originate in the discharge tube experiment and move away from the anode These are called canal rays since they seem to be flowing like a stream of water in a canal.
(b) canal rays are basically anode rays which consist of protons .For the charge and mass of protons consult section 4.1 .for the comparison of canal rays and electrons in terms of charge and mas , consult section 4.7
