(a) WBCs are : (i) Granulocytes : Neutrophil, Eosinophil and Basophil. (ii) Agranulocytes : Lymphocyte and Monocyte.
(b) Defensive functions of WBC : (i) Neutrophil and Monocyte kill the germs by phagocytosis. (ii) Eosinophils prevent allergic reactions. (iii) Basophils secrete heparin to prevent intravascular blood coagulation. (iv) Lymphocytes form fibroblast which repairs wear and tear in the body. (v) B-lymphocytes help in humoral immunity by forming antibodies and T-lymphocytes help in cellular immunity to protect the body from diseases.
