Find the oxidation state of C-1 and C-2 in `CH_(3)CH_(2)OH`.

The oxidation number each of three H- atoms attached to C-2 =+1. Therefore ,the total oxidation number of three H- atoms =+3 .For C-C bond ,the oxidation number of C-2 atoms does not change .So the oxidation number of C-2 atom =-3
