On the top of a mountain water boils at

A

high temperature

B

same temperature

C

high pressure

D

low temperature

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

On the top of a mountain, water boils at low temperature. The higher the pressure, the higher boiling point of water. At low pressure, the boiling point of water comes down. As we go higher in altitude the atmospheric pressure decreases. This results in decreasig the boiling poin at higher altitude and increase in boiling of water.
