A particle moves from a points `vecr_1=hati+2hatj` in metre to another point `vecr_2=2hati+4hatj` in metre under the action of a force `vecF=2hati+3hatj` in newton. Find the work done by the force on the particle in the displacement.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given `vecF=2hati+3hatj` initial position, `vecr_1=(hati+2hatj)`m,
final position `vecr_2=(2hati+4hatj)m`
Displacement `vecr=(vecr_2-vecr-1)=[(2hati+4hatj)-(hati+2hatj)]`
`=(hati+2hatj)m`
`therefore` Work done, `W=vecF*vecr=(2hati+3hatj)*(hati+2hatj)=8J`
