A vessel full of liquid is descensing with an acceleration a `[altg]`. Find the relation between the liquid pressure with the depth of the liquid in the vessel.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Let the density of the liquid = `rho`, area of cross-section of the vessel = `alpha`, mass of the liquid = m and pressure at a depth h inside the liquid = p.

The upward reaction force exerted on the liquid in part A by the liquid in part B = `palpha`.
So, considering the motion of the liquid in part A, we get
`mg-palpha=ma`
or, `palpha=mg-ma=m(g-a)=alphahrho(g-a)`
or, `p=hrho(g-a)`.
