Why is it easier to swim in sea water than in a river?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Due to the presence of salt dissolved in sea water, its density is more than that of river water. Due to the greater density of sea water it exerts a stronger buoyant force on a swimmer than what is exerted by river water. Hence, it is easier to swin in sea water than in a river.
