An egg sinks in fresh water, but it floats when a suitable quantity of salt is mixed in that water. Why?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

An egg is heavier than the weight of an equal volume of water and hence it sinks in water. But when a suitable quantity of salt is mixed in water, the density of this saline water becomes greater than the density of the egg and so it floats.
