A pitot tube is connected to a main pipeline of diameter 16 cm. The difference in height of the water columns in the two arms of the tube is 10 cm. Determine the rate of flow of water through the main pipe.

Volume of water flowing through the pipe per second `V=av[v= " velocity of water"]`
`V=a sqrt(2gh)` [Here, `a=pi(8)^2=64 pi cm^2, h=10cm`]
`therefore V=64 pisqrt(2xx980xx10)=64pixx140`
`=2.8xx10^4 cm^3`
`=0.028 m^3.`
