How would the rms speed of an ideal gas ...

How would the rms speed of an ideal gas change if density increases at constant temperature.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

At constant temperature , `V prop 1/p`
Again, as `V prop 1/p therefore p prop p`
Hence `p/p`=constant `therefore c=sqrt((3p)/p)`=constant
`therefore` In this case the rms speed does not change with increase in density of the gas.
