Find out the ratio between the absolute ...

Find out the ratio between the absolute temperature of two samples of hydrogen and oxygen gases, if their molecules rms speed are equal.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

rms speed ,`c=sqrt((3RT)/M)`
For hydrogen molecular weight `M_1=2` and for oxygen , `M_2=32.`
`thereforec_1/c_2=sqrt(T_1/T_2.M_2/M_1)or,T_1/T_2=M_1/M_2.(c_1/c_2)^2=2/32.(1/1)^2=1/16`.
