The frequencies of two tuning forks A an...

The frequencies of two tuning forks A and B are 250 Hz and 255 Hz respectively. Both are sounded together. How many beats will be heard in 5 seconds ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given frequencies are `f_(1) = 250 Hz, f_(2) = 255 Hz`
Hence, number of beats per seconds or beat fequency = (255 - 250) = 5 .
So the number of beats heard in 5 seconds ` = 5 xx 5 = 25 ` .

Statement I : When two vibrating tuning forks have f_(1) = 300 Hz and f_(2) = 350 Hz and are held close to each other, beats cannot be heard . Statement II : The priniciple of superposition is valid only when f_(1) - f_(2) lt 10 Hz .
