What is oxyhaemoglobin dissociation curve?

Text Solution

A sigmoid curve (S- shaped) is obtained whenpercentage saturation of haemog lobin with oxygen is plotted against `pO_(2)` This curve is called oxygen hacmoglohin dissociation curve.
2. This S- shaped curve has a steep s lope for `pO_(2)` values between 10 and 50mm Hg a nd then flattens between 70 and 100 mm Hg.
