A train starting from a railways station...

A train starting from a railways station and moving with uniform acceleration attains a speed 40 km/h in 10 minutes. Find its acceleration.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Initial velocity of the train, u = 0
Final velocity of the train, V = 40 km/h
`=40 xx (5)/(18) = 11.1 m//s`
Time taken, t= 10 min
`=10 xx 60 = 600s`
Acceleration
`a = (V-u)/(t) = (11.11-0)/(600) = 0.0185m//s^(2)`
Hence, the acceleration of the train is `0.0185m//s^(2)`
