Lithium, Sodium, Potassium, Calcium reacts with cold water very quickly. All of these metals react vigorously or even explosively with cold water. In each case, a solution of the metal hydroxide is produced together with hydrogen gas.
`2x(s) + 2H_2O (l) to 2xOH (aq) + H_2 (g)`
Ex: `2K (s) + 2H_2O (l) to 2KOH (aq) + H_2(g)`
