Calculate the torque developed by ann ai...

Calculate the torque developed by ann airplane engine whose output is `2000 HP` at an angular velocity of `2400 rev//min`.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`omega = 2pi (2400//60)=80 pi ` rad/s
Work done by torque
= (torque) `xx` (angular displacement )
Power = work done per sec ` = tau (Deltatheta)/(Deltat)`
Power = `tau omega `
` tau = (2000 xx 786 )/(80pi) = 6252 `Nm
